Millie*, a 34-year-old woman in Phoenix, Arizona had an infusion scheduled to treat her Chronic Inflammatory Demyelinating Polyneuritis (CIDP) on a Monday Morning. As standard practice, Polaris proactively monitors the tracking information of all medications once they’ve been turned over to shipping companies. That’s how Trang Van, Chief Clinical Officer, and pharmacist-on-duty, noticed on Friday evening that Millie’s medication had not left LAX for Phoenix as scheduled. The shipping company was not going to be able to deliver the prescription in time for Millie’s infusion.

Trang knew Millie needed her infusion on Monday morning, so she reissued Millie’s prescription and engaged one of the organization’s delivery drivers to drive to Phoenix to hand-deliver Millie’s medication.

It was a 12-hour, 750-mile round trip delivery, but all involved agree that it was worth it. Millie received her medication and her infusion on time, as scheduled. Her CIDP continues to improve and she’s a Polaris patient to this day.
